Welcome to Room 17!
Thanks for visiting my classroom page. I'm a First grade teacher here at Vanalden. I've worked at this school my entire teaching career which is now going on 19 years. I received my degree in Psychology from CSUN and went directly to the LAUSD District Intern Program. I started working at Vanalden in 2000 and feel so fortunate to still be here and be part of this warm and welcoming community.  During these years I've come to know many families and enjoy having older and younger children in my class. I've taught other grades including 2nd, and 4th but seem to always come back to 1st which I love. So much is happening during this important year of school. It really is the foundation of all that is to come in their academic future. I like to work closely with parents to help their children have the most successful year possible. I am always available to speak to. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions and concerns. I will get back to you as soon as possible.  I usually leave around 3:00 to pick up my own children from school, but if you need to see me of course I will make arrangements. I have twin 12 year old sons and 3 Havanese dogs that I love to spend time with.

Homework packets for the week go home on Monday and are due every Friday.
